You may find yourself with an immediate need for an interpreter. Or you may prefer to schedule a telephone interpreting service because the interpreter may not or cannot be physically present at the appointment (for example in relation to Covid-19 measures). In that case, you can make use of a telephone interpreting service.
A telephone interpreting service often occurs with conversations between two individuals. So it is actually a conversation interpreting service, where the interpreter performs consecutive interpreting. This means that the one participant repeatedly speaks and then pauses to give the interpreter the opportunity to interpret. The interpreter translates what has just been said and, as soon as the interpreter has finished, the other person continues his or her speech or discussion. This allows you to have a conversation with another person while eliminating the language barrier.
Are there multiple participants to the conversation and is everyone in different locations? Then a conference call is a better fit for this situation. Different solutions are possible here: All participants can call in to the same telephone number and use an associated pin code to enter a digital meeting room (conference). Another possibility is that the main participant adds all the other participants to one telephone conversation.
No simultaneous interpreting can be performed in a telephone interpreting service because then the interpreter would be speaking over the discussion participants. We’re happy to help you find the right solution. Feel free to contact us to discuss the possibilities.
